Head coach Wayne Rooney has left Plymouth Argyle, who are fighting for survival in the British Championship, by mutual agreement, after just seven months in charge. The 39-year-old former England captain has only won four league games and suffered 13 defeats in 23 Championship games. He and his players were booed after Sunday's 2-0 loss to Oxford United - their sixth defeat in a nine-game winless run that began in early November.
Along with Rooney, other members of the coaching staff have left the team. In the meantime, first team coach Kevin Nunskivell and club captain Joe Edwards will lead the team as they prepare for a crucial home match against Bristol City on Wednesday, January 01.
