"Due to the deterioration of the security situation in Islamabad and other localities of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly recommends that Ukrainian citizens avoid crowded places due to protests in the capital and other cities, strictly observe security measures and rules for foreigners staying in the country, comply with legal requirements of law enforcement agencies, monitor local authorities' reports on the development of the situation, do not leave their place of residence unless absolutely necessary, and always have identity documents with them, and also to show increased vigilance and caution," the report says.

What is happening in Pakistan

Thousands of people, according to BBC estimates, gathered in the capital of Pakistan to protest demanding the release of former prime minister Imran Khan from prison.

Clashes broke out between protesters heading to the central square of Islamabad and police. Security forces used tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse the protesters.

Pakistani authorities say four soldiers who participated in the dispersal of the protest were killed in clashes. The authorities blame the protesters for their deaths.

In response to the actions of the demonstrators, the authorities blocked the main streets and roads, setting up barricades of sea cargo containers on them. Military and police officers from all over the country have been drawn to Islamabad. In the city, the internet practically does not work, classes in schools are canceled.

Earlier, the Pakistani authorities imposed a ban on any meetings, including protests and rallies.

The head of the Ministry of internal affairs of Ukraine said that the participants of the protest action were offered another place to hold the rally instead of the center of Islamabad, but they refused it.

The protest action in Islamabad began at the call of former prime minister Imran Khan, who is in prison. Last weekend, he appealed to his supporters and urged them to take to the streets of the capital and not leave until their demands are met.

72-year-old Ifran Khan has been in prison for more than a year: he was convicted in several cases at once, including on charges of corruption and disclosure of state secrets. However, Imran Khan has repeatedly stated that he considers all the charges against him to be politically motivated.
