The European Union is proposing to impose sanctions on more than a dozen individuals and three organizations as part of the bloc's first package of restrictive measures aimed at Russia for its disinformation operations and other hybrid activities, Bloomberg reports, UNN writes.

According to a draft seen by Bloomberg, the proposed measures would target several Russian intelligence officers and groups, as well as government officials and media entrepreneurs.
The restrictions are part of a new sanctions regime approved earlier this year that focuses on disinformation operations and other Russian-sponsored destabilizing activities around the world.
The bloc is also proposing additional sanctions against Belarus, including against about two dozen individuals accused of human rights violations or who benefit financially from their relationship with the government of Alexander Lukashenko.
EU foreign ministers are said to be set to approve the packages at a meeting on Monday in Brussels ahead of next month's elections in Belarus.

The proposals come after the EU agreed on the 15th package of sanctions against Russia over its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The measures include restrictions on more than 45 oil tankers involved in the covert transportation of Russian oil and several Chinese companies accused of helping Moscow develop attack drones.
EU sanctions require the support of all member states and may change before that.
