Ukraine has asked Romania and Poland for emergency assistance due to electricity shortages caused by damaged power units and high consumption. No blackout schedules are currently in place in any region.

To compensate for the electricity shortage, Ukraine has again requested emergency assistance from Romania  and Poland. However, emergency blackouts have not been applied in any of the regions. UNN reports this with reference to Ukrenergo and the Ministry of Energy.

Today, December 9,  Ukrenergo's dispatch center is forced to again attract emergency assistance from the transmission system operators of Romania  and Poland from 12:00 to 19:00 with a capacity of 300 MW

 - Ukrenergo said in a statement.

It is noted that  the main reason for the  deficit is the lack of generating capacity.

During the day, one power unit at the thermal power plant went into emergency repair, and another into scheduled repair. Several units  are being restored in the frontline region after enemy shelling, and in other regions after  massive missile  attacks last winter.

Ukrenergo notes that the situation is complicated by the high level of electricity consumption, despite the warming weather and the weekend. The operator asks to consume electricity sparingly.

Addendum

According to the Ministry of Energy, there is a slight shortage of electricity in the power system due to shelling, but no power supply restrictions are applied in any of the regions.

The situation is under control. The power system is balanced. Currently, blackout schedules are not applied and are not planned to be applied in any of the regions

- the Ministry of Energy said.

The ministry  also called for reducing the load on the power system during peak consumption hours (especially in the evening from 16:00 to 18:00).

The Ministry of Energy appeals to consumers to help power engineers and all those for whom light is a critical need - doctors, utility companies, and the military.  Reduce the use of energy-intensive appliances, and postpone laundry to nighttime hours. This way you will share the light with those who really need it

- the Ministry of Energy pointed out.
