Drones attack Russia's Samara region for the second night, petrochemical plant on fire

In Samara and Novokuibyshevsk, drones damaged a residential building. One person died, two people were hospitalized, and Kurumoch airport suspended operations.

For the second night in a row, drone attacks have been recorded in Russia's Samara region, resulting in one death and several injuries. This was reported by Russian public pages and local authorities, writes UNN.

The Novokuibyshevsk petrochemical plant was attacked and is on fire as a result of the attack on the Samara region, local residents report.

According to local residents, explosions and the hum of engines were heard in the sky over Samara at night. After one of the explosions, windows on the upper floors of a high-rise building were blown out, and a fire subsequently broke out there.

Emergency services are working at the scene, and residents of the building are being evacuated.

Vyacheslav Fedorishchev, the governor of the Samara region, reported that one person died as a result of drone attacks in Novokuibyshevsk.

In Samara, two people were injured as a result of a drone strike on a residential building – one was inside the premises, the other on the street. Both were hospitalized.

Situation in the region

Residents of Novokuibyshevsk also report explosions. An air raid alert was announced in the region.

Kurumoch Airport temporarily suspended the reception and departure of flights.

Information on the extent of the damage is being clarified.
