On the border with Poland, customs officers found hidden Apple devices worth UAH 1.6 million. This was reported by the State Customs Service of Ukraine, UNN reports.
Details
On July 29, a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter minibus driven by a 41-year-old resident of Ternopil Oblast was planning to enter Ukraine from Poland through the Shehyni-Medyka checkpoint. The driver chose the "red corridor" lane for customs control and indicated 35 Starlink terminals, 20 charging stations and 50 mobile phones in the declaration of movement.
However, during the inspection of the luggage compartment of the car, customs officers found hidden equipment: 27 new iPhone 15 Pro and 8 iPad Air 11 of the Apple brand. The driver hid the gadgets in shopping bags and taped them up to be sure.
An administrative protocol was drawn up in accordance with Part 1 of Article 483 of the Customs Code (Movement or actions aimed at moving goods across the customs border of Ukraine concealed from customs control). The estimated value of the goods is UAH 1.6 million.
Recall
The NABU and the SAPO served suspicion notices to two Volyn Customs officials for facilitating the illegal import of Apple equipment. The suspects helped to avoid proper payment of duties through the Yahodyn checkpoint, which caused losses of over UAH 53 million.
