Coca-Cola has been accused of quietly abandoning its promise to reach 25% reusable packaging by 2030, writes UNN with reference to the Guardian.

Details

Coca-Cola is considered one of the world's most polluting brands with plastic waste.

In 2022, the company bought a lot of its own water, and 25% itself, will be sold from the bottles  and  plastic bagatose plaques abo containers, which can be bought from the fountains abo "Coca-Cola freestyle dispensers".

However, on the eve of this year's World Summit on plastic, Coca-Cola removed all information where the above was promised.

Now, the company says it plans to use between 35% and 40% of recycled material in primary packaging (plastic, glass, and aluminum), including increasing the use of recycled plastic to 30% -35% worldwide.  In addition, they indicated that they would help ensure that 70% to 75% of the equivalent number of bottles and cans released to the market each year are collected.

This week, at a meeting in Busan, South Korea, nearly 200 countries failed to reach an agreement on reducing plastic production. The meeting failed to resolve major differences between countries with "high ambitions" seeking a global agreement to limit plastic production and phase out harmful chemicals, and "like-minded people" who want to focus on waste.

Activists have called on companies, including Coca-Cola, to switch from  recycled plastic bottles to reusable bottles. Due to the fact that recycled disposable products still pollute the environment.

Recall

A deputy from Macron's party introduced a Bill banning the packaging of water in plastic bottles with a volume of less than 0.5 liters. The initiative was supported by eco-activists, but some citizens see this as an inconvenience.
