The upper stage of a Chinese rocket collapses in space, endangering more than 1,000 other satellites.
According to official information, 18 Internet satellites, which are intended to compete with Starlink of the American company Space X, were launched into orbit on Monday. The launch was carried out by the Chinese state-owned company Shanghai Spacecom Satellite Technology (SSST).
However, shortly after the payload was removed, an explosion occurred and a field of debris was formed.
According to American space monitoring companies, it contains at least 700 fragments.
Moreover, more than 1,000 satellites and other objects in the Earth's orbit with heavy traffic are at risk of facing this chaos.
SSST has not yet released an official response. The American space monitoring company LeoLabs said the number of debris fragments is likely to exceed 900.
