The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine recently attacked an airbase in Rostov region and the Center for Radio Technical Intelligence in Podolsk after striking the Savasleyka airfield and destroying several aircraft. It is noted that the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Kyrylo Budanov, confirmed that his department organized these operations. According to Budanov, about 50 drones were used to carry out the attacks.
He noted that the electronic intelligence center in the Podolsk district of Moscow, Ostafievo airport and Millerovo air base in Rostov region were hit. The extent of the damage is currently being assessed.
These attacks were among the largest operations by Ukrainian drones in Russia's deep rear. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, on the night of August 21, 45 drones were shot down by air defense systems, including 11 in the Moscow region and 23 in the Bryansk region.
Earlier, on August 16, Ukrainian drones attacked the Russian Savvasleyka airbase, destroying a MiG-31 fighter jet and two Il-76 military transport aircraft. According to the newspaper, this incident was another proof of Ukraine's ability to strike strategically important Russian targets from a long distance.
