British intelligence has analyzed whether Russia is capable of forming and providing two new armies, the creation of which was previously announced by Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of the United Kingdom, according to UNN.

As noted in the report, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced on March 20 that Russia will create two new armies in 2024. They will reportedly consist of 14 divisions and 16 brigades. The exact type, location, and composition of these units were not specified, although it is likely to be a combination of mechanized, armored, artillery, and logistics units.
It is quite possible that these new formations are related to previous announcements by the Russian side about the creation of new units and the planned upgrade of brigades to divisions.
The ministry added that given Russia's successful recruitment efforts, it is likely that these units can be sufficiently staffed.
