Police believe the attack was carried out by a female bear with cubs

According to a police spokesperson, the results of the forensic medical examination and the findings of a wildlife specialist indicate that the fatal injuries were inflicted on the man by a female bear who was with her cubs.

The last officially recorded case of a human death due to a bear attack in Bulgaria occurred in 2010.
