During the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris on July 26, the announcer mistakenly introduced the South Korean team as representatives of North Korea. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) apologized for the mistake. UNN reports this with reference to Reuters.

South Korea regretted that the announcer introduced its team during a boat parade on the Sinai as the “Democratic People's Republic of Korea” - the official name of North Korea - in French and English.
South Korea demanded guarantees from the organizers that the mistake would not be repeated. South Korean Vice Minister of Sports and Culture Chan Miran, who was in Paris, asked for a meeting with IOC President Thomas Bach.
“We regret that at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris, when the athletes of the Republic of Korea entered the hall, the country was presented as North Korea,” the statement said.
Later, Zhang told South Korean media that Bach planned to speak on the phone with South Korean President Yun Suk-yol on Saturday to apologize for the incident.
The IOC stated that the incident was a mistake and offered a “deep apology” in Korean.
However, South Korean social media users expressed dissatisfaction with the incident, and some reacted sharply to the IOC's monosyllabic apology, saying it was not sincere.
