A Volkswagen Bora and a Nissan Leaf electric car collided in Lviv region, killing a passenger, and criminal proceedings have been opened, the regional police department reported, UNN reports.

The accident occurred on March 31 at about 17:30 in the village of Nyzhne Syniovydne, Stryi district.
As law enforcement officers have previously established, a Volkswagen Bora driven by a 38-year-old woman and a Nissan Leaf driven by a 52-year-old woman collided.
"As a result of the collision, the driver of the Nissan was injured and taken to the hospital, and her male passenger died at the scene from his injuries," the police said.
According to the State Emergency Service, the fire and rescue department used a hydraulic tool to unblock the passenger from the Nisan Leaf and disconnect the battery.
A criminal proceeding was opened under Part 2 of Art. 286 (Violation of the rules of road safety or operation of transport by persons driving vehicles) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of three to eight years with or without deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.
