Kyrylo Kernes, the son of former Kharkiv mayor Gennadiy Kernes, is trying to use his father's death for his own PR. His destabilizing statements were immediately replicated by the Russian media, which are only waiting for famous names to appear in the media field. During Hennadiy Kernes' stay at the German Charité clinic, where he died, he was accompanied by his two sons, his wife, and a family friend, the sanctioned businessman Pavel Fuks, who claimed that the former mayor of Kharkiv was conscious and in good health until a sharp deterioration a few days before his death. UNN decided to recreate the events of three years ago and look into the situation.
Kyrylo Kernes claimed that Hennadiy Kernes' treatment and payment for it were handled by Kernes' stepson Rodion Haisynskyi and a friend of the former Kharkiv mayor, businessman Pavlo Fuks.
"As far as I know, they (Haisynsky and Fuchs - ed.) were involved in treatment and payment for it. I don't know anything about any other roles they had," Kernes said in an interview with Glavkom.
However, first things first. Kyrylo Kernes claims that at the time of his admission to the German clinic, his father was already in critical condition, but after the former Kharkiv mayor was hospitalized in a German clinic, it was not Kyrylo himself who was in the room with him, but Fuchs. On the second day of Hennadiy Kernes' stay at Charité, September 18, 2020, he said that the then-mayor of Kharkiv was conscious and feeling well.
"He is currently undergoing treatment for COVID-19 in the intensive care unit. He is conscious, his blood pressure is like that of an astronaut. The bad news is that he has been banned from all gadgets. He promised to get in touch as soon as he is allowed," Fuchs said.
On the same day, Fuchs's words were confirmed by Hennadiy Kernes's son, Rodion Haisynskyi.
"I have just come from Hennadiy Kernes. He is much better! You can't call him yet," he wrote on his Instagram account.
On September 22, 2020, Hennadiy Kernes's wife Oksana Haisynska reported that "everything is fine," and Rodion Haisynskyi wrote: "The condition is much better, the doctors are deciding when they can let me go to Kharkiv. Communication in the ward is still prohibited. He is going to the elections, and this is not discussed." This also refutes the claim that Hennadiy Kernes did not plan to run for office, as well as the fact that since the summer, when the former mayor was completely healthy, all of Kharkiv was covered with billboards with his political advertisements about his intentions to become mayor again.
"We will go to the polls on our own, with our 'Kernes Bloc - Successful Kharkiv'. I think my team has done enough to be successful... I will also go to the polls myself," Kernes said in an interview back on June 10, 2020, a few months before his illness.
On October 2, 2020, a friend of the Kernes family, former MP Mykhailo Dobkin, said that the mayor of Kharkiv was recovering.
"Today I spoke with Gennadiy Kernes' family and friends. It was a difficult conversation, but the most important thing is that the doctors are satisfied with the dynamics of treatment! He is recovering, and we are all waiting for him in Kharkiv," Dobkin wrote on his Telegram channel .
Later, on October 13, 2020, a close friend of Hennadiy Kernes, Pavlo Fuks, published an emotional post in which he called for not speculating on Hennadiy Kernes' health and not calling Charity to find out the health of the Kharkiv mayor. At the time, Fuchs said that his friend was "making progress every day" and that German doctors expected him to recover. To confirm his words, he published a certificate from the Charité clinic, which is issued only to relatives about the patient's health status.
Later, there were rumors that Hennadiy Kernes's health began to deteriorate. At the time, they said different things - that he had suffered a stroke, that his kidneys had failed. However, this information was denied by Kyrylo Kernes himself on December 11, 2020. And he refuted it in such a way that he shattered his current statements that his father was in a state of delirium and could not even speak. Back then, on December 11, 2020, Kyrylo Kernes told the media that he had personally spoken to his father on the phone. "Hennadiy Kernes' health is satisfactory, I spoke to him a week ago on the phone. The doctors will tell him in a week or two when he can return to Kharkiv," Kyrylo Kernes said .
In interviews with the media, Hennadiy Kernes's sons Rodion and Danylo, who, unlike Kyrylo, were with their father in Berlin, denied the information about the former Kharkiv mayor's health deterioration.
"My father is in excellent condition. I visited him the day before yesterday. I will also visit him today. His health is not in danger," Rodion Gaisinsky said at the time.
Hennadiy Kernes' son Danylo called the statements about his father's deteriorating health speculation. "The stroke and coma are manipulations by opponents who have nothing else to do but speculate on his health. I really can't understand where they are getting all this from," he said in an interview.
It is worth noting that the Kernes Bloc - Successful Kharkiv party faction does not believe Kyrylo Kernes' statements either.
"Look - for 3.5 years he was silent, he was satisfied with everything, he had no questions. And after 3.5 years, he starts making some strange statements... I had a faction (faction meeting - ed.) and at the faction... I asked everyone a question - who is the director of all this that is happening now? He was silent for 3.5 years, and now he is such a truth-teller... we need to look for who is interested in this and who is the director of this movie," said Kharkiv MP from Hennadiy Kernes' political force, Oleh Karatumanov, in an exclusive commentary to UNN .
He added that Kyrylo Kernes did not make any statements at all during his entire term as a deputy.
"When he had a grudge that he was deprived of the leadership of the faction... in my opinion, he had emotions, someone played on these emotions and he is simply being used in this situation," Karatumanov added.
Recall.
Earlier UNN described in detail who Kirill Kernes is and how his statements play into the hands of the Kremlin. In addition, his statementthat he was not born for war, and therefore fled Ukraine, is also surprising. At the same time, UNN has learned from its own sources that Kernes regularly meets in Vienna with Yevhen Muraiev, the leader of the banned pro-Russian party Nashi. This may indicate that Kernes Jr. is obsessed with Gauleiterism.
