Details
"Ukraine will create a register of chemical safety threats and conduct systematic monitoring. The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved the Procedure for Monitoring Chemical Safety Threats and Identifying Their Sources," the statement said.
It is stated that the document was developed to fulfill Ukraine's European integration commitments and to continue the reform of the national chemical safety system.
Monitoring will be carried out by the Ministry of Environment to promptly identify existing and potential threats. It will analyze data on the volume of production or import of chemicals in Ukraine and their level of hazard, information on new chemicals manufactured or imported into our territory that have not been subject to a risk assessment, and official state statistics. Information on each identified threat will be entered into the relevant register, which will be available around the clock
According to her, potential sources of threat to chemical safety can also be the improper use of technology in industry or low levels of staff awareness of the dangers posed by chemicals. Therefore, such facilities will also be subject to monitoring.
The register will reportedly contain information about each identified threat, its source, as well as measures to be taken to minimize risks and the timing of their implementation.
As noted, a report will be prepared annually based on the results of the monitoring, which will also include proposals for strengthening security measures. This document will be published on the website of the Ministry of Environment and sent to the Security Service of Ukraine.
