A special intelligence unit of the Ukrainian Navy "Angels" conducted a multi-stage special operation to evacuate a marine from the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Navy reported on Thursday, UNN reported.

Details

"While performing a mission, the marine was taken prisoner by Russia, where he spent about a year and a half. During this time, he repeatedly became a victim and witness of torture and abuse of Ukrainian prisoners. Since the first days of Oleksandr's capture, the servicemen of the special intelligence unit of the Ukrainian Navy "Angels" have been looking for ways to bring the marine back," the statement reads.

And, as indicated, his mother Olha, who works as a Ukrainian language teacher, was supported in every way possible.

"A lot of forces were involved in the rescue of Oleksandr. As a result of a complex and multi-stage operation developed by the Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Navy Command, the Angels managed to successfully evacuate and return the 29-year-old marine. For security reasons, the details of the operation are not disclosed," the Navy said on Facebook.

The meeting between the mother and son, as noted, took place in the office of the Commander of the Ukrainian Navy, Vice Admiral Oleksiy Neizhpapa, who personally supervised the operation at all stages.

The Navy said that Oleksandr became the 69th person successfully evacuated by the Angels to the territory controlled by Ukraine.

The Navy Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine expressed great gratitude to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba for his assistance in conducting this operation.
