Counterintelligence has identified and detained a deputy of the Druzhkivka City Council from the banned OPFL, who is suspected of handing over Ukrainian positions to the occupiers. This was reported by UNN, citing a report by the Security Service of Ukraine and the press service of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office.
Details
SBU counterintelligence officers detained a member of the FSB agent network operating in eastern Ukraine. The suspect was a deputy of the Druzhkivka City Council from the banned OPFL party, and he was served a notice of suspicion, the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office said.
According to the investigation, the official, together with his acquaintance, collected military information for the Russian Federal Security Service from October 2022 to March 23.
They drove around the city and its suburbs in a car and searched for the location of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The deputy would take photos of the locations, and his colleague would pass the footage to his "handlers," the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office said.
According to the SBU, the informants paid the most attention to the geolocation of fortifications, checkpoints and places of possible storage of ammunition for Ukrainian defenders and tried to track the movement of military echelons; the location of railway stations where Ukrainian weapons are unloaded.
The resident of Druzhkivka also made efforts to plan his own future. According to the investigation, in the event of the occupation of Druzhkivka, the suspect saw himself as a "deputy mayor". Currently, the official has been imposed a measure of restraint in the form of detention without the right to be released on bail.
