President Volodymyr Zelenskyy took part in a thematic lesson "Cities of Heroes. Ukraine's Victories in the War", which was held at Lyceum No. 1 in Hostomel for 10th grade students, UNN reports with reference to the Office of the President.

The lesson was devoted to the events of the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February-March 2022, primarily the key battles for the Antonov airfield in Hostomel, the occupation of cities and communities in Kyiv region, and the decisive battle for the village of Moshchun.
The pupils told the Head of State about their understanding of the significance of these events and their own experience as a result of full-scale Russian aggression. Children whose relatives and friends are currently defending Ukraine at the frontline also shared their stories.
Zelensky noted the importance of conducting such lessons, which remind us of how the defenders of Ukraine defended Kyiv region in the spring of 2022.
"This is a very important victorious event for the entire country. It is important that everyone in Ukraine knows how our soldiers have defended and continue to defend Ukraine," he emphasized.
By the end of the 2023-2024 school year, a series of lessons "Cities of Heroes. Ukraine's Victories in the War" dedicated to the liberation of settlements in different regions of our country from Russian occupation.
At Lyceum No. 1, the President also familiarized himself with the devastating consequences of Russian aggression. During the hostilities in 2022, almost all the material and technical support of the educational institution was destroyed.
At the expense of the state and local budgets, charitable and public organizations, and international funds, the restoration of the educational institution and the arrangement of the shelter were completed. On September 1, 2022, the lyceum resumed its work in a mixed format.
More than 1600 students study at this institution. They have achieved achievements at various levels of all-Ukrainian subject Olympiads and in writing research papers of the Minor Academy of Sciences. In 2023, a student of the lyceum won a bronze medal at the International Geography Olympiad.
