The American Film Academy (Oscar) has announced shortlists in 10 nominations. Two documentaries - "The Porcelain War" and "Once Upon a Time in Ukraine" - made in co-production with Ukraine were shortlisted. This is stated on the website of the film academy, UNN reports.

"Porcelain War", created in co-production between the United States, Ukraine and Australia. The film was directed by Brendan Bellomo, an American, and Slava Leontiev, a Ukrainian and one of the main characters in the film.
The film tells the story of three artists from Kharkiv who stay in the frontline city despite the threat of being surrounded and captured by Russian troops. Despite the danger, they fill the city with art: they make porcelain figurines that decorate houses destroyed by Russian shelling.
The film premiered at the Sundance International Independent Film Festival in January 2024, where it won the Grand Prix in the Documentary Competition. The film has already won 37 awards and 27 nominations at international film festivals.
The short film Once Upon a Time in Ukrainedirected by Betsy West about the life of children in war has been shortlisted in the Best Documentary Short Film nomination. The film was created in co-production between Ukraine and the United States.
