How to call for help, give signals, and calm down - UNICEF Ukraine and SES experts presented important tips on how to help in case of being under the rubble, UNN reports.

Details

What to do if you find yourself under the rubble. A number of important tips:

Try not to move to avoid making the situation worse;

If possible, call for help (if available, call 101).

Important:

During the debris removal, rescue service specialists periodically announce a "minute of silence". At this time, you should call out as loudly as possible and give signals for help.

Shout, whistle, shine a flashlight if possible, knock on batteries or pipes, experts advise.

Another important tip:

To avoid causing a possible explosion, do not use lighters or matches.

To avoid hypothermia, cover yourself if possible; also rub your limbs.

Under appropriate conditions, if you are blocked by small objects, carefully clear the space around you. At the same time, try not to hit anything that holds the blockage.

Examine yourself and those around you:

It is important to stop the bleeding as soon as possible; you can apply a bandage made of available fabric.

If the child is alone under the rubble:

To see if she is conscious, he will call her;

Ask if she is in pain and if she can move;

Make sure the child is not injured.

How to help calm down:

Hugging; holding hands; breathing together - deep and slow breaths in and out. Keep in touch all the time: tell stories, recall happy moments, and assure them that help will come.

A way of calming down:

Ask the child to hold the saliva in his or her mouth; make movements as if chewing and swallowing. This will help to calm down," experts advise.
