The teams of Ukrainian world heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk and German boxer Agit Kabayel must reach an agreement by June 30 regarding a mandatory fight under the WBC. In the absence of an agreement, the World Boxing Council (WBC) will announce promoter bids, reports UNN.
Details
Kabayel is the WBC interim champion and the official challenger for Usyk's belt. Organization president Mauricio Sulaiman confirmed that the parties are negotiating the organization of the bout and must agree on all terms by the end of June.
What will happen if the fight does not take place
If the teams do not reach an agreement by June 30, the WBC will hold promoter bids to determine the fight organizer. If Usyk refuses a mandatory title defense, the organization may strip the Ukrainian of the championship belt.

Then Kabayel could receive the status of a full WBC world champion or fight for the vacant title. The German boxer previously stated that he expects a championship bout regardless of whether Usyk agrees to defend the title.
