Ukrainian rescuers have begun extinguishing forest fires in France and received their first assignments. The work is being carried out in cooperation with French rescuers. This was reported by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, as conveyed by UNN.

"The Ukrainian consolidated detachment of the State Emergency Service, which is participating in the elimination of large-scale forest fires in France, continues to carry out its assigned tasks," the post reads.
According to the State Emergency Service, a meeting was held the day before with General Frédéric Tournay, responsible for civil protection issues in the European Union. He thanked the Ukrainian rescuers for their readiness to help France and highly praised their professionalism.
After the meeting at the fire response command post, the Ukrainian detachment received its first operational tasks. Work areas were assigned to the rescuers, including preventing the spread of fire to the territory of an equestrian center and protecting young forest plantations. Currently, Ukrainian rescuers continue to carry out their assigned tasks in cooperation with their French colleagues. Work to eliminate the forest fire is ongoing.
The rescuers also shared the story of their meeting with local residents.
"Our firefighters have been helping French colleagues for several days in eliminating large-scale forest fires. During the move to the task location, local residents greeted the column of State Emergency Service specialists with applause, sincere handshakes, and the words "Thank you!" in Ukrainian, - the State Emergency Service reported. - These touching scenes are a vivid testament to the mutual support, solidarity, and respect between our peoples. Even in the hardest times, humanity knows no borders. We thank France for the warm words of support, and our rescuers for the courage that the world admires!"

France is struggling with forest fires amid another heat wave.
By order of President Zelensky, 70 rescuers and 15 special vehicles have been sent to France. Ukraine is also ready to provide State Emergency Service aviation if additional needs arise. As reported, Ukrainian specialists were expected to work on the most challenging sections, representing the largest international team.
