The super sprint race was held in two stages: first, the participants, divided into four races, had to qualify. Three "blue and yellow" biathletes managed to do it: Dmytro Pidruchnyi showed the second best time in his race, while Artem Tyshchenko and Anton Dudchenko finished in the top 4 of their group.
The last shooting put the two Ukrainians in the lead: Pidruchnyi worked cleanly and led the race, while Tyshchenko limited himself to one penalty lap and returned to the course 1.8 seconds behind his teammate.
Pidruchnyi reached the finish line after 19:19.5 minutes on the course and won gold. Tyshchenko finished at a distance of 5.2 seconds and completed Ukraine's medal double, while the Czech Mikiska rounded out the top three. Anton Dudchenko finished 13th with three faults.
