The Russian Federation claims that Ukraine attacked the Murmansk region with drones for the first time ever. This was stated in particular by the governor of the region, Andrey Chibis, UNN reports.
Details
In particular, Chibis said that on Wednesday, August 21, the region was on alert due to the threat of a drone attack.
According to Russian propagandists , the drones managed to reach the village of Vysokyi in the north of the region, near which the Olenya military airfield is located, where Tu-95MS and Tu-22M3 strategic missile carriers are deployed.
The Moscow Times emphasizes that if this is true, it is the first time that Ukraine has attacked Russian targets beyond the Arctic Circle. Thus, the drones covered a record distance: from the border to the village of Vysoky, about 1,850 kilometers.
Addendum
The previous record of 1,800 kilometers was set by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in late May when they attacked Orsk in the Orenburg region, where the Voronezh radar station is located.
Prior to that, the farthest target of Ukrainian drones was a facility in the city of Salavat in the Republic of Bashkortostan, which is 1,660 kilometers from the Russian-Ukrainian border.
Recall
The General Staff reported that on the night of Wednesday, August 14, long-range drones of the Security Service of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine carried out the largest attack on Russian military airfields since the beginning of the full-scale invasion .
