Ukraine approves management strategy for military education system

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has approved a management strategy for the military education system to streamline responsibilities and transition to a Western leadership model, developed with the participation of NATO partners.

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has approved the Strategy for the management of the military education system.  The changes include the delineation of areas of responsibility of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the General Staff of the Armed Forces and military educational institutions, UNN reports, citing the press service of the Defense Ministry. 

Details 

The essence of the changes is to create a legal basis for the regulation and delimitation of the areas of responsibility of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and military universities. 

It is noted that the new strategy will make the management system more functional and open the way for a Western model of leadership. 

Partners from NATO member states took an active part in its development, the ministry said.  In particular, the high-level adviser from the Republic of Lithuania, Major General (retired) Vitalijus Vaikshnoras, who once participated in the development of a similar document in Lithuania. 

It is important for us to synchronize our efforts in the interests of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other components of the defense forces as much as possible. Our partners are actively assisting us in this, so I am grateful to our foreign advisors from NATO member states for their experience and professional support in preparing the Strategy

To recap 

Defense Minister Rustem Umerov signed an order approving the Concept of Military Personnel Policy until 2028. The document defines a strategic vision of the development of military personnel policy in the defense sector over the next five years, both during martial law and in peacetime.
