Starmer was to hold talks with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President António Costa. The parties planned to discuss cooperation in the areas of food security, energy, and youth mobility as part of the course to reset relations between London and Brussels.
According to the BBC, deepening cooperation with the EU was one of the key directions of Starmer's policy after coming to power. He viewed it as an important tool for stimulating economic growth and restoring the government's standing.
European Council President António Costa confirmed the postponement of the meeting.
