In the Peresypskyi district of Odesa, two employees of a motor depot kidnapped their colleague, who was suspected of stealing several hundred dollars.
A 58-year-old and a 33-year-old man arranged to meet their 25-year-old colleague near a convenience store. They arranged a get-together and then forced him into a car and drove him to the older man's house. There, they tied him with a rope to a radiator and began beating him, demanding a confession to the theft. As a result of the unlawful actions of the accomplices, the victim sustained minor injuries.
In the morning, when the attackers fell asleep, the victim untied the rope and jumped out of the window of the apartment located on the third floor of the building. As a result of the fall, he suffered closed fractures of the calcaneus, which are classified as moderate bodily harm.
On the street, the victim asked for help from passersby, who called an ambulance. The doctors hospitalized the man and reported him to the police.
The police detained the offenders and seized the rope, cell phones and other material evidence of their illegal actions.
After conducting a series of examinations, investigative measures and gathering evidence, the defendants were served with a notice of suspicion of kidnapping and illegal deprivation of liberty committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, accompanied by infliction of physical suffering on the victim (Part 2 of Art. 146 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), as well as an intentional act aimed at causing severe physical pain to a person in order to force him or her to perform actions contrary to his or her will, including obtaining information or confession, committed by prior conspiracy by a group of persons (part 2 of Article 127 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The court imposed bail on the suspects, which they have already paid. Under the current legislation, the offenders face imprisonment for up to 10 years
