Six citizens of the Russian Federation died as a result of the accident of a submarine that sank in the waters of the Red Sea near the Egyptian resort of Hurghada. This is reported by Reuters, reports UNN.

At the same time, 39 foreign tourists were rescued. According to the local administration, the tragedy occurred on Thursday, when there were 50 people on board the ship, including tourists from different countries, including Russia, India, Norway and Sweden, as well as five Egyptian crew members.
The submarine "Sindbad", which was used for tourist trips, was equipped with large portholes that allowed passengers to enjoy the view of underwater corals and marine life at a depth of up to 25 meters. Most of the passengers were rescued and taken to their hotels and local medical facilities.
The Egyptian authorities have already launched an investigation into the causes of the disaster, cooperating with crew members to find out the circumstances of the flooding. According to local officials, the submarine and the captain had all the necessary licenses to conduct such activities.
This tragedy occurred against the background of several previous incidents with tourist ships in Egypt. In particular, last year several similar boats were involved in accidents due to dangerous weather conditions, which caused losses among tourists.
