The Croatian police have completed an investigation into the fire in the port of Medulin on May 14 this year and have served three Ukrainian citizens with suspicions. According to the police, a 28-year-old man and two 25-year-olds are accused of committing a crime related to intentional arson, which caused significant damage. According to law enforcement, the suspects arrived in Croatia from Poland, having previously agreed to commit arson. Around 3:40 a.m., one of the 25-year-old suspects entered the port and set fire to a vessel belonging to a 65-year-old resident of Pula, using a bottle of flammable liquid. The fire quickly spread to other vessels, destroying 22 of them and partially damaging another 12. The total amount of damage caused is about two million euros.
The police reported that the suspects are currently outside Croatia and a criminal complaint has been filed against them with the relevant state prosecutor. The investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement officers continue to actively search for the criminals.
