The United States has begun the process of granting Ukraine licenses to produce Patriot missiles, moving this issue beyond political statements. This is reported by UNN with reference to Kyiv Independent.
Details
According to a knowledgeable Ukrainian official who wished to remain anonymous, the American defense company "Lockheed Martin," which manufactures these missiles, supports granting Ukraine the relevant licenses.
The official does not believe that this process will take several months, as previously assumed.
This news came after US President Donald Trump stated on July 8 that he would fulfill Ukraine's long-standing request to produce American Patriot missiles. Besides the United States, Japan and Germany currently hold licenses to produce Patriot interceptors.
In addition to Patriot production, Kyiv is considering alternative air defense options. Earlier this week, Ukraine and nine European countries established a Missile Defense Coalition, agreeing to jointly develop the Ukrainian FREYJA air defense project
