The cost of the Easter basket in 2024 increased to UAH 1422. This is reported by the National Research Center "Institute of Agrarian Economics", UNN reports.

According to the calculations of the Institute of Agrarian Economics, in 2024, traditional Easter cake, eggs, homemade sausage, pork, lard, butter, soft and hard cheeses, horseradish and salt will cost a family of 4 about UAH 1422.05, which is 17.6% more expensive than last year, when the same set of products cost UAH 1208.78.
Traditional Easter cake makes up the largest part of the price, which this year will cost an average of UAH 179.8 per 1 kg. Compared to the previous year, the price of Easter cake increased by 5.8%, mainly due to higher prices for some of its components.
Ingredients that experienced a significant rise in price this year include butter (+16.4%), milk (+13.6%), yeast (+9.6%), and raisins (+15.6%), which unfortunately reflects the economic instability caused by the military actions.
Meat products remain among the most expensive items in the basket, with home-made sausage and pork rising in price by 14.3% and 14.2%, respectively.
Meat products remain the most expensive components of the Easter basket. Homemade sausage costs UAH 200 per 0.5 kg, which corresponds to a price of UAH 380-420 per 1 kg. Pork costs 250 UAH per 0.5 kg, which is 500-540 UAH per 1 kg. Lard costs 110 UAH per 0.5 kg or 210-280 UAH per 1 kg.
Among dairy products, hard cheese has the highest price, jumping by 31.9% year-on-year. However, soft cheese (0.5 kg) will cost UAH 107.5 (UAH 37-45 per 200 g pack).
If the basket is supplemented with vegetables and fruits, which have also risen in price, the cost may increase to UAH 1652.05, which is 12.9% more than in 2023.
Thus, greenhouse tomatoes cost UAH 85-120 per 1 kg, and cucumbers cost UAH 90-110 per 1 kg. Apple prices range from UAH 20 to 27 per 1 kg, depending on the variety.
As for the church wine Kahor, its average price is about 150 UAH per bottle.
According to Yuriy Lupenko, director of the National Research Center "Institute of Agrarian Economics," the prices of goods in the basket reflect the economic difficulties caused by the war and are rising against the backdrop of monetary and material losses of the domestic economy and Ukrainian families.
