My friends described the Swedish soldier as an experienced soldier who had been involved in the war for a long time.
The Swede arrived in 2022 and was said to have been killed late last week. During his time in Ukraine, he served in several locations, including near Kyiv, near Bakhmut, and in russia.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed to SVT that they were aware of the case.
"We have received information that a Swedish man has died in Ukraine in recent days. The embassy in Kyiv is investigating this information. Deaths abroad are among the most sensitive cases the ministry has to deal with," the ministry said.

In the summer, it became known that at least two foreign volunteers who fought on the side of Ukraine were killed. Thus, in early July, British volunteer and combat medic Peter Foucher, pseudonym Hasta La Vista, was killed on the front line. He was killed while rescuing wounded Ukrainian soldiers and evacuating civilians from frontline cities during the russian occupation.
In mid-July, a Finnish citizen who was helping the Ukrainian armed forces was killed north of occupied Donetsk. This is the fourth volunteer from Finland to die in Ukraine.
