In 2021, SpaceX signed a $1.8 billion contract to build a network of hundreds of spy satellites for the US intelligence community to track targets around the world.

SpaceX, a company owned by American billionaire Elon Musk, is building a network of hundreds of spy satellites under a secret contract with the US intelligence service. This was reported on March 16 by Reuters, according to UNN.

Details

According to the publication, the construction contract was signed back in 2021 and is worth $1.8 billion. It is noted that if successful, the US Army and the government will be able to identify potential targets almost anywhere in the world much faster.

Reuters does not say when the new network of spy satellites will be launched, and SpaceX did not respond to the publication's request.

According to the agency's sources, the satellites will be able to track targets on Earth and share this data with US intelligence and the military.
