Ukraine's Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal urged cities to install alternative energy sources to ensure uninterrupted power supply to critical infrastructure during his visit to a power plant in Kharkiv.

The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal got acquainted with the work of one of the power facilities in Kharkiv and called on cities to install alternative energy sources to ensure uninterrupted power supply to critical infrastructure, UNN reports.

According to Shmyhal, 4 cogeneration gas piston units with a total capacity of 6 MW were installed at the facility.

"This will allow us to supply heat to the city's residents in the event of a power outage. We are currently negotiating with partners to install additional gas turbines," the Prime Minister said.

Shmyhal called on other cities to install alternative energy sources to ensure uninterrupted power supply to critical infrastructure.

"The Government will continue to provide support to the regions. In June, we allocated an additional UAH 2.5 billion to Kharkiv region to prepare for the heating season," he summarized.
