Details
Last May, cyber police exposed three people who, under the guise of original global branded goods, were selling low-quality fakes online at attractive prices.
Subsequently, law enforcement officers completed the pre-trial investigation under Part 4 of Art. 190 (Fraud) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and sent the indictment to the court.
The operatives documented the fact that the offenders stored the counterfeit in rented apartments in Lviv and Vynnyky. They provided signs of similarity of their goods to the original by using printing packaging products.
The offenders also took photos of counterfeit goods to advertise them on social media. Later, they sold it through specially created Instagram accounts. Customers received orders by mail within Ukraine.
During the searches of the suspects' residences, the police seized more than 150 units of counterfeit products, as well as packaging and advertising materials, and electronic data storage devices.
In this way, the company-owner of the brand suffered losses of more than UAH 1.2 million. The defendants voluntarily reimbursed these funds.
