Speaking about developments in the war in Ukraine, Scholz indicated that he was ready to resume talks with Putin "soon." "Yes, I am going to talk to the Russian president when the time is right for that," he said on the Caren Miosga program of German television channel ARD on the evening of Sunday, November 10. - But I am a responsible politician, I will not do it alone.
The German chancellor explained that before talks with Putin on Ukraine, a number of contacts must be established and talks held with "very many" other parties, including Kiev.
Asked when exactly he thought the "right time" for talks with Putin would come, Scholz responded evasively: "Soon."
At the same time, he emphasized the need to make sure that "Ukraine will be able to rely on us so that it does not have to fear being left alone, and also - that at the same time everything will be done to prevent the escalation of this war.
"And, of course the same, we need to see whether there is a way to find out whether this war should continue indefinitely, or whether it is possible to find ways to end it ," the Chancellor summarized.

The last telephone conversation between Scholz and Putin took place in December 2022, at which time the German chancellor called on the Russian president to withdraw rf troops from Ukraine and seek a diplomatic solution to the conflict.
