Russian troops are changing their tactics for using attack drones, gradually shifting from massive attacks to selective strikes using jet-powered "Shaheds." This is reported by Defense Express, writes UNN.
Details
According to the publication, in June Russia reduced the number of long-range drone launches to about 5,700, compared to nearly 8,000 in May. In particular, during the attack on the night of July 6, 326 long-range drones were used, whereas in mid-May the occupiers used over 1,400 drones per day.
As noted by the advisor to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Serhiy "Flash" Beskrestnov, this may indicate a reorientation of production.
"I believe that a reorientation of part of the production towards the serial manufacturing of jet-powered 'Shaheds' is currently underway. There is also a transition from the tactic of mass strikes to the tactic of selective strikes,"
Russia uses new technologies to bypass Ukrainian air defense
According to Beskrestnov, the Russians are actively using conventional "Shaheds" to strike front-line cities and targets at a distance of 100-200 km from the front line. About 200 drones are used daily for such attacks.
The expert also noted that the occupiers are using drones with mesh modems, which allow them to be controlled in FPV mode, as well as modifications of "Shaheds" with an automatic target acquisition system ("Seeker"), which complicates their suppression by electronic warfare means.
"Important targets are selected, reconnaissance of objects is carried out in several stages, our defense lines are studied, corridors bypassing interceptors are probed, and routes are built at various altitudes and speeds,"
