Russia appoints new acting navy chief: what is known about him

Russia has appointed Admiral Aleksandr Moiseev as acting commander-in-chief of the navy, replacing Admiral Nikolai Evmenov after significant losses of Russian ships.

Admiral Alexander Moiseev, commander of the Northern Fleet, has been appointed acting commander-in-chief of the Russian Navy, UNN reports citing the Russian media. 

Details 

moiseyev was officially introduced at a ceremony on the occasion of submariner's day in kronstadt.

He will replace Admiral Mykola Yevmenov, who has been in command of the fleet since 2019. 

Earlier, the Russian media reported the change of the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy. 

As analyzed by British intelligence,  Nikolai Evmenov was dismissed after a series of significant losses of Russian ships, including  the Sergei Kotov on March 5.

Alexander Moiseev has served on Russian nuclear submarines for more than 29 years. In 2018, he was appointed Commander of the Black Sea Fleet, and in 2019 - of the Northern Fleet. He is a holder of Russia's highest award, the Hero of the Russian Federation.
