Ruslan Slobodian has been elected the new chairman of the National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission (NEURC). The decision was made on Wednesday during a closed meeting by secret ballot, according to the regulator’s website, reports UNN.

It is noted that the decision was made in accordance with legal requirements and the established procedure.
The NEURC reported that Slobodian has more than 28 years of experience working in the energy sector. Over the years, he held the positions of chief engineer, director and head of the Yarmolyntsi electricity networks district, deputy general director, director of information technology, and technical director of JSC "Khmelnytskoblenergo."
From 2021 to 2024, he headed the State Inspectorate for Energy Supervision of Ukraine. Since July 2024, he has been a member of the NEURC.
Under the law on the NEURC, the chairman of the commission organizes the regulator’s activities and represents it in relations with government authorities, international partners, and other institutions.
The regulator’s previous chairman, Yurii Vlasenko, completed his two-year term after heading the commission since August 2024.
