The Romanian Defense Ministry denied that its air defense system shot down Russian drones. Csolaku said this during a visit to Buzau County, Digi24 writes, UNN reports .

“In order to shoot them down [Russian drones], we have to open fire on Ukrainian territory, and I think this has not been allowed yet, I have not heard of any decision on this issue,” Cholaku said, answering journalists' questions.

According to the Romanian prime minister, Russian drones near the border with Romania in the Danube region are usually shot down by Ukrainian air defense, and “there is no danger to Romanians.” Following previous incidents where Russian drone wreckage ended up on Romanian territory, the country has taken security measures.

The Romanian Ministry of Defense earlier denied that Romanian air defense had allegedly shot down Russian Shahed drones. The ministry emphasized that Romanian forces and assets deployed near the border with Ukraine “have never opened fire on Russian drones in any such situation.
