Romanian President Klaus Iohannis has announced that he will participate in the competition for the post of NATO Secretary General. This was reported by UNN with reference to the RFI.

He added that it has been two decades since Romania became a member of NATO, which has been promoting democracy and freedom for 75 years and has developed a wide network of partners.
"The Alliance's core values, the rule of law and respect for fundamental rights and freedoms, have been the compass that has guided us to consolidate democracy. NATO's umbrella has offered us the strongest security guarantees in history," added Johannis.
He also noted that "a military conflict in Europe is a reality that seemed unimaginable a few years ago, and Russia is proving to be a long-term threat to our continent.
