The "Russian Volunteer Corps" (RVC), the "Freedom of Russia" legion and the "Sibbat" have been fighting for more than a week in the Belgorod and Kursk regions of Russia to thwart a possible offensive by the occupation forces against Ukraine from that direction. This was stated at a press conference by representatives of these volunteer military units, which consist of Russian citizens fighting "for Ukraine and against the Putin regime," UNN reports with reference to Radio Liberty.
According to them, "it's no secret that the Russian Armed Forces try to timing some of their attacks or achievements to certain dates, such as May 9 or Putin's birthday." Now, according to the units' representatives, the invaders were supposed to carry out such an attack in honor of the inauguration of the Russian president, but were repelled by pro-Ukrainian forces.

In total, according to him, Russian citizens defending the territorial integrity of Ukraine "destroyed 121 units of enemy equipment, and another 50 were disabled." The editorial board cannot confirm this information from independent sources. At the same time, representatives of the RDC, the Freedom of Russia Legion and the Sibbat say that their "special liberation operation of Russia from Putin" continues, and the current task is not to keep certain settlements in Russia under control, but primarily to conduct guerrilla work, as well as the desire to "push the enemy as far away from the Ukrainian border as possible.
In his turn, RDC commander Denis Nikitin, who was present at the press conference, said that some of the 37 Russian soldiers captured in the Belgorod and Kursk regions of the Russian Federation have already expressed a desire to go over to the side of Ukraine. The rest, he said, will be transferred "to the exchange fund."
