Prosecutors proved the legality of life imprisonment for a resident of Zhytomyr who in 2021 killed a mother and her minor daughter. The criminal raped the woman, robbed her, inflicted numerous stab wounds and set the apartment on fire.

Prosecutors of the Office of the Prosecutor General in the Supreme Court proved the legality and validity of the sentence of a resident of Zhytomyr, who was sentenced to life imprisonment for the premeditated murder of a young woman and her minor child. This was reported by UNN citing the Office of the Prosecutor General.

Details

The crime occurred in September 2021 in Zhytomyr. A 23-year-old man, while under the influence of drugs, followed a woman returning home, waited for her to enter the apartment, and broke inside.

Subsequently, the perpetrator raped the woman, took possession of her jewelry, and then inflicted numerous stab wounds on the mother and her 13-year-old daughter. He then set the apartment on fire to conceal evidence of the crime and fled.

During the trial, the man claimed that another person was allegedly involved in the murder and tried in every way to avoid responsibility. However, juvenile prosecutors refuted this version and provided the court with evidence confirming his guilt.

The perpetrator was found guilty of the premeditated murder of two persons, including a minor child, committed for mercenary motives, intentional destruction of property, robbery, illegal possession of a vehicle, and rape. The court sentenced him to life imprisonment.
