Ukrainian linguists Iryna Farion had been preparing for the murder of her for at least a month.

According to Suspilne's sources in law enforcement, law enforcement officials believe that the murder was a contract killing, with the main suspect being a man currently wanted by police. Witnesses point to him, but law enforcement has not yet disclosed details of his possible accomplices.
The suspect reportedly used camouflage clothing, including glasses and a hat, to avoid recognition. Surveillance cameras recorded his first appearance in Farion's yard on July 11. He came every day, except weekends, wearing the same clothes.
According to law enforcement, the wanted man had a small handbag, which could possibly contain a weapon. During some of his visits, he carried the bag, while during others he left empty-handed. Forensic examinations at the murder scene confirmed the presence of a shell casing, indicating the use of a firearm.
Currently, the police continue to investigate the case of Irina Farion's murder.

At the time of the murder, the man was waiting for Iryna Farion near her house at 17:03. When she came out, he fired one shot. Law enforcement officials noted that the man acted professionally and carefully calculated his actions. At the time of the assassination attempt, cameras in the area were turned off due to a power outage.
On July 21, law enforcement officers put a man of about 20 years old, slim build, 170-180 cm tall, on the wanted list.
