Power supply line disconnected at Zaporizhzhya NPP

On August 23, ZNPP automatically shut down the 330 kV Ferrosplavna-1 high-voltage line. The plant continues to operate normally, and the radiation background has not changed.

On August 23, a high-voltage power line was disconnected at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, Rosatom said on Telegram. The reasons for the incident are not reported. However, it is said that the radiation background at the plant and the surrounding area has not changed, reports UNN

“On August 23, 2024, the high-voltage power supply line 330 kV Ferrosplavna-1 was disconnected at Zaporizhzhya NPP by automatic operation,” Rosatom said in a statement. 

The Russian agency clarified that after the automatic systems disconnected the power line, the power is supplied from the 750kV Dniprovska line. 

As noted, the station continues to operate normally, “no violations of safety limits and conditions were recorded,” and the radiation background at the station and the surrounding area has not changed. There is no information about the cause of the incident.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the Russian occupation of Zaporizhzhia NPP poses a threat to radiation safety and stressed the need to return the plant to Ukrainian control to ensure safety.
