The meeting, as stated, lasted 2.5 hours.
"A friendly meeting in a very pleasant atmosphere," Andrzej Duda said after the meeting.
"A wonderful meeting of two friends who recalled the time when they worked together for four years while holding the presidency. It was a very good, fruitful time for Polish-American relations. Donald Trump has repeatedly emphasized his great sympathy for Poland and the gratitude he feels for the Poles," Polish Minister Wojciech Kolarski commented after President Andrzej Duda's meeting with Donald Trump.
According to Reuters, Trump's campaign officials called the two politicians "great friends" and said they had discussed Duda's proposal that NATO countries spend at least 3% of their GDP on defense.
The publication points out that many European leaders have long worried that a potential Trump presidency would mean less US support for Poland's neighbor Ukraine and the NATO military alliance.
"President Trump fondly recalled his landmark trip to Poland in 2017 and praised the Polish people for their steadfast defense of their sovereignty and commitment to securing Europe's borders from any threat," the Trump campaign said in a statement about the meeting.
