The President of Ukraine believes that it would be a "big mistake" for Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to meet personally with Russian President Vladimir Putin during the BRICS summit in Kazan. Zelensky stressed that the Kremlin leader should be politically isolated, as Putin should feel a historic mistake for starting a war against Ukraine, UNN reports with reference to CNN Brasil.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Thursday (18) that it would be a "big mistake" for President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to meet in person with Russian leader Vladimir Putin during the BRICS summit to be held in Kazan, Russia, in October 2024.
It is his business whether he meets with Putin or not. But it would be a big mistake, because we have to isolate Putin politically. He should feel that he made historic mistakes by attacking Ukraine and starting a war. And when a leader meets with him, it gives (Putin) legitimacy. I think this is a big mistake
At the same time, it is reported that Zelensky's statement was a response to CNN's question about how he sees Lula's possible trip to the BRICS summit. CNN reminds that the Brazilian leader has not responded to several invitations to visit Ukraine and see the reality of the war and Russian aggression.
