In the Dnipropetrovsk region, a mother kept her 7-year-old son on a chain - in Kamianske, the fact of cruel treatment of a child is being investigated, the Office of the Prosecutor General reported on Thursday, writes UNN.
On June 24, 2026, during a scheduled check of the family's living conditions, employees of juvenile prevention together with the child welfare service discovered a case of cruel treatment of a minor child. A 38-year-old resident of the city of Kamianske tied her 7-year-old son to a radiator with a metal chain. According to the boy, he had been chained to the radiator since the previous day
"At the scene, law enforcement officers established circumstances indicating the commission of illegal actions against the child: the mother tied the child to a radiator with a metal chain for the purpose of 'upbringing'," the police also noted.
The family, as stated, has been registered with the child welfare service since 2025 as one that found itself in difficult life circumstances. "Due to the abuse of alcoholic beverages, the woman has been repeatedly brought to administrative responsibility," the statement reads.
The child's father, it is noted, does not participate in his upbringing and does not maintain contact with the family.
"Criminal proceedings have been initiated on the fact of torture (Part 1 of Article 127 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The boy has been removed from dangerous living conditions and placed in a center for social and psychological rehabilitation," the prosecutor's office reported.
Investigative actions are ongoing. All circumstances of the incident are being established.
