More than two thousand foreign components have been identified in the wreckage of weapons used by Russia to attack Ukraine. All of them are included in the open database on the War and Sanctions portal of the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption. This was reported by Oleksandr Ruvin, Director of Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise, on his Telegram channel, according to UNN .
"The open database already has more than 2,000 foreign components that were identified in the process of examining parts and fragments of Russian weapons in the wake of attacks in Ukraine. Users can find information on types of weapons, manufacturers, and technical characteristics of each component. The data on the portal will be regularly updated," Ruvin said.
According to him, since the first days of the war, KFI experts have been studying all types of weapons used by Russia against Ukraine. One of the most important aspects of this work has been and remains the identification of non-Russian-made components in missiles, drones, and other types of weapons and military equipment.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, experts have identified dozens of manufacturing companies whose products are used by Russian terrorists. Expert work in this area has been consolidated with many Ukrainian agencies and institutions.
"It is important to understand that behind every component identified and investigated is a huge amount of work by people. This is a complicated process, as the Russians systematically mask and erase markings on components. In addition, microelectronics can be very miniaturized and integrated, making them difficult to detect. There is also a tendency for the Russian defense industry to lack standards. When we study the same elements of the attack drone systems used by the enemy, we see a different layout of their components," added the Director of KFI.
Oleksandr Ruvin expressed hope that the platform will help Ukraine's partners, foreign officials, investigative journalists and all interested stakeholders to prevent Russia from producing weapons of mass destruction and bring the accomplices of this war to justice.
