Mattel is at the center of a scandal after the packaging of new dolls created in partnership with Universal Pictures' Wicked movie accidentally printed a link to a pornographic website instead of the movie's official website.
Writes UNN with reference to Fox News.
Mattel has released dolls created in collaboration with Universal Pictures' new movie "Wicked" in a special edition ahead of the November 22 premiere. These dolls, exact replicas of actors from the movie, come in packaging that mistakenly has the address of a pornographic website printed on the back of the package instead of the official link to the movie, wickedmovie.com.
Mattel itself reacted to the error in the following way:
Mattel has learned of a typographical error on the packaging of Mattel Wicked collectible dolls sold primarily in the United States that was intended to direct consumers to the official WickedMovie.com landing page . We deeply regret this unfortunate mistake and are taking immediate steps to correct it. Parents are advised that the incorrect website with the error is not appropriate for children. Consumers who already have this product are advised to discard the packaging or disguise the link, and to contact Mattel customer service for more information
The company also produced other toys inspired by the movie "Wicked", but their boxes did not contain a link to the "adult site". Active X users also reacted to this situation and demanded the immediate dismissal of those who did not watch the movie.
